Precision measurement of the contact parameter published in PRL

Researchers in Swinburne's ultracold Fermi gas laboratory have made the most precise measurement of Tan's universal contact - a parameter which defines several of the thermodynamic properties of the unitary Fermi gas. The measurement utilises Bragg spectroscopy and sets a new benchmark for this important many-body parameter with a much smaller error bar than all previous studies. Our results are compared with the latest quantum Monte Carlo calculations performed at Los Alamos as well as other determinations which had previously shown disagreement at the level of 10%.

The findings have been published in Physical Review Letters: http://prl.aps.org/abstract/PRL/v110/i5/e055305
